My fingered idlies.

 The age old custom to check if the idlies are cooked well, is to poke a finger into the steaming idly while still in the pan.


Times have changed, some use a coconut broom stick, others a thin metallic rod, others into the hotel industry, the time of fourteen minutes, on the wall clock, at high.

Some habits die hard, some grannies running an idly shop around the corner still continue the practice, and some cranks like me who think the best cooked idlies are the ones checked individually, receive the fingered ones, rejected by others.

Many a hotel looses a rich hygiene seeking customer, with this check mark.

When a personal touch could be a failure.
